WorkCover Physio for Strathfield: Direct Billed, No Out-of-Pocket Cost
- One stop from Strathfield Station
- No gap on approved sessions
- AHPRA registered
If you have been injured at work and you live in Strathfield, your physiotherapy can be billed directly to your insurer — no payment on the day, no gap fee on approved sessions, and no claim forms for you to chase.
To be straightforward about location: Hopevana does not have a clinic in Strathfield itself. We treat Strathfield workers at our Homebush clinic, which is one stop away on the T2 and T3 lines and roughly two kilometres by road. For most people in Strathfield that is a shorter trip than travelling into the inner west or the CBD.
Not sure how the scheme works yet? Our WorkCover physiotherapy Sydney guide explains claims, approvals and Certificates of Capacity from the beginning. This page is about getting treated locally once your claim is underway.
Getting to Us From Strathfield
Strathfield is one of the busiest interchanges on the Sydney rail network, and Homebush is the next station along. If you normally commute through Strathfield, the clinic is on a line you already use.
- By train — one stop from Strathfield Station on the T2 Leppington & Inner West or T3 Liverpool & Inner West line
- By car — roughly 2 km, with parking at the clinic
- By bus — Strathfield is served by a large number of routes through the station precinct
This matters more than it might sound. After a back or shoulder injury, driving can be uncomfortable or restricted, and a long trip to an appointment is one of the most common reasons people stop attending partway through a treatment plan. A clinic one stop down the line removes that obstacle.
The Injuries We See From Strathfield Workers
Strathfield’s workforce does not look like the industrial suburbs further west, and the injury pattern reflects that. Health care and social assistance is the single largest employment sector among Strathfield residents — around one in five — followed by professional and technical services and retail trade.
That shapes what comes through our door.
Health and aged care workers
Patient handling is one of the most consistent causes of workplace back injury in Australia. Transfers, repositioning and assisting falls place repeated load on the lower back and shoulders, often building up over months rather than arriving in a single incident.
Desk-based and professional workers
Neck, upper back and wrist strain from sustained postures and repetitive keyboard and mouse work. These rarely feel dramatic early on, which is precisely why they are often left until they start affecting sleep or concentration.
Retail and hospitality staff
Long periods standing, repeated lifting and carrying, ladder and step work, and slips on wet floors. Ankle, knee, lower back and shoulder injuries are all common.
Post-surgical rehabilitation
Where a workplace injury has required surgery, structured rehabilitation is what determines how well and how quickly you return to your duties.
Whatever the injury, treatment is built around what your job actually asks of you. A nurse returning to patient transfers needs a different rehabilitation plan from someone returning to a desk, even where the diagnosis on the certificate reads the same.
How Direct Billing Works
Direct billing means we invoice your insurer for approved sessions instead of charging you and leaving you to claim it back. You do not pay on the day and you do not wait on a reimbursement.
- Bring your claim number and insurer — we confirm what has been approved before your first session
- You are assessed and treated — and we discuss what your role involves
- We invoice the insurer — no payment from you, no gap fee on approved sessions
- We manage ongoing approvals — so treatment continues without an administrative gap

Other Funding We Direct Bill
WorkCover is one of several pathways that can mean no out-of-pocket cost.
CTP
Injured in a motor vehicle accident? CTP treatment is direct billed the same way. WorkCover & CTP.
Medicare
With a CDM plan from your GP, sessions are bulk billed with zero gap. Medicare guide.
NDIS
Home visits across the inner west and Western Sydney, with a funding report prepared at no cost.
DVA
Approved care for veterans holding a White, Gold or Orange card.
Also Serving the Surrounding Suburbs
The Homebush clinic treats injured workers from across the inner west and the Olympic Park corridor. If you are closer to one of these, the same direct billing applies.
For general physiotherapy in the area rather than WorkCover specifically, see our Strathfield physiotherapy page. If you are further west, we also run a Pendle Hill clinic.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a Hopevana clinic in Strathfield?
No. We treat Strathfield patients at our Homebush clinic, which is one stop from Strathfield Station on the T2 and T3 lines and about two kilometres by road. There is parking on site. We would rather be upfront about that than have you arrive somewhere expecting a Strathfield address.
What will WorkCover physiotherapy cost me?
Nothing, for approved sessions. Once your claim is accepted and your insurer has approved physiotherapy, we bill them directly. There is no payment on the day and no gap fee. If you ever approach the limit of what has been approved, we will tell you before your next appointment rather than after it.
Do I need a referral to start?
You do not need a GP referral to see a physiotherapist. For WorkCover, what matters is that you have a claim and that physiotherapy has been approved by your insurer. A Certificate of Capacity from your GP is usually part of the claims process. If you are unsure where yours sits, call us and we will help you work it out.
Can I choose my own physiotherapist under WorkCover?
Yes. You are entitled to choose who treats you, and to change provider if you are not happy. Let your insurer and case manager know you are moving to Hopevana, and bring any treatment notes or reports from your previous physiotherapist if you have them.
How many sessions will I need?
That depends on the injury, how long you have had it, and what your job requires you to return to. Your physiotherapist will give you an honest estimate after the initial assessment rather than committing you to a fixed block up front. Your insurer approves sessions in stages, and we manage those approvals as your treatment continues.
What if I cannot travel to the clinic?
Mention it when you call. Depending on your injury, your funding and your circumstances, a home visit may be possible. It is worth raising rather than simply not booking — the most common reason recovery stalls is appointments not happening at all.
