What Is Cupping Therapy?

Cupping is a soft tissue therapy that uses suction cups placed on the skin to lift the underlying tissue, drawing fresh blood into the area, releasing fascial restriction, and decompressing tight muscles.

Unlike massage which compresses the tissue, cupping creates a negative pressure that stretches and decompresses the tissue layers — particularly effective for areas where deep manual pressure is uncomfortable or inaccessible.

Benefits of Cupping

Cupping delivers measurable benefits for both performance and recovery:

  • Faster muscle recovery after training or competition
  • Pain relief from deep, tight muscle knots
  • Improved circulation and lymphatic flow
  • Reduced inflammation and muscle soreness
  • Releases fascial restrictions and improves mobility
  • Drug-free, immediate symptom relief

Conditions We Treat

Cupping is particularly effective for muscular tension, recovery, and chronic tightness.

Back Pain

Chronic lower back tightness, postural pain, and muscular strain.

Shoulder Tightness

Trapezius tension, rotator cuff stiffness, desk-related shoulder pain.

Sports Recovery

Post-training and post-competition recovery to clear muscle fatigue.

Muscle Fatigue

Heavy, tired legs after running, cycling, or hiking.

Chronic Tension

Long-standing muscle tightness that doesn’t release with massage.

IT Band & Glutes

Lateral leg and glute restriction common in runners and cyclists.

What to Expect

A unique therapy — different from anything you’ve tried. Comfortable, fast, and effective.

1

Brief Assessment

We identify the muscles, fascial lines, and areas of tightness driving your symptoms.

2

Cup Application

Cups are applied with controlled suction. They may stay still for a few minutes (static) or be moved across the tissue (gliding cupping).

3

Aftercare

You’ll feel immediate relief. Marks are normal — see below.

About the Marks

Cupping can leave round, reddish-purple marks on the skin where the cups were placed. These are not bruises — they’re a sign of the therapy bringing stagnant blood and toxins to the surface where the body can clear them.

The marks are painless, fade within 3–7 days, and are completely normal. The darker the mark, the more “stuck” the tissue was. Many athletes (and Olympic swimmers) wear them as a badge of honour.
