Massage at Hopevana Pendle Hill
Hands-on therapy delivered inside a clinical setting — with physiotherapy follow-up available if a deeper issue is identified.
What Sets Us Apart
Our remedial massage therapist at Pendle Hill is fully qualified across four modalities — remedial, Thai, lymphatic drainage, and sports massage. Sessions are delivered in a clinical setting alongside our AHPRA-registered physiotherapists, so if your massage assessment identifies a deeper musculoskeletal issue, follow-up physiotherapy is available within the same clinic.
All session types are HICAPS-rebatable through major Australian private health funds with massage cover. We don’t replace medical care — but we do provide effective hands-on therapy for muscle tension, recovery, soft tissue restriction, and post-event or post-surgical recovery.
Session Options
- 60-minute session: Standard length for most remedial, Thai, sports, and lymphatic sessions
- 90-minute session: Extended session for full-body work, complex presentations, or combined modalities
- HICAPS on-the-spot rebates: Major Australian private health funds with massage cover supported
- Clinical setting: Treatment delivered within our physiotherapy clinic with access to physio follow-up
- No referral required: Direct booking — referral only needed if claiming through specific NDIS plans
Types of Massage We Offer
Our therapist offers four distinct massage modalities. Choose the style that suits your goal — or ask at booking and we’ll match the session to what you need.
Remedial Massage
Therapeutic, results-focused massage targeting specific areas of muscular pain, tension, or dysfunction. Techniques include deep tissue work, trigger point release, myofascial release, and stretching. Commonly used for chronic neck and shoulder tension, lower back tightness, sciatic nerve symptoms, postural strain from desk work, and recurring muscle knots. HICAPS-rebatable through most private health funds with extras cover.
Thai Massage
Traditional Thai massage combines acupressure, assisted stretching, and rhythmic compressions performed on a mat with the client clothed. The therapist uses hands, elbows, knees, and feet to apply pressure along the body’s energy lines. Ideal for increasing flexibility, releasing chronic tightness, and full-body relaxation. Often described as “yoga done to you” — sessions feel both deeply relaxing and physically engaging.
Lymphatic Drainage
Lymphatic drainage uses very light, rhythmic strokes to encourage lymph fluid movement through the body. Commonly used post-cosmetic surgery (such as liposuction or BBL recovery), post-mastectomy, for lymphoedema management, fluid retention, and immune support. Sessions feel gentle and meditative rather than deep — pressure is intentionally light because the lymphatic system sits just below the skin’s surface.
Sports Massage
Targeted soft tissue work for athletes, gym-goers, runners, and active people. Used pre-event to prepare muscles, post-event to support recovery, and during training to manage tightness and prevent injury. Includes deep tissue techniques, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, and sport-specific stretching. Works well alongside our physiotherapy services for athletes managing recurring injury risk.
What to Expect
Your first massage session at Hopevana Pendle Hill — from the moment you walk in.
Your First Session
Your first session starts with a brief health and goals check — what’s bothering you, what you’re hoping to achieve, any medical history relevant to massage. Your therapist will then recommend the modality (or combination) most suited to your needs.
You’ll have privacy to change, and the therapist will check in on pressure during the session. After the session, you’ll get any relevant aftercare guidance — hydration, stretching, or follow-up suggestions if a deeper issue was identified.
Physiotherapy Follow-Up
If the assessment identifies a musculoskeletal issue better suited to physiotherapy — for example, a disc-related back pain rather than muscular tension — your therapist can refer you internally to our AHPRA-registered physiotherapists for assessment.
You don’t have to start your care over elsewhere. Massage and physiotherapy work together under the same roof at Pendle Hill.

Yes. Our therapist is HICAPS-registered, so most major Australian private health funds with extras (massage) cover will process your rebate on-the-spot at the time of your session. You only pay the gap.
No referral is needed for private bookings or HICAPS-rebated sessions. A referral may be required if you’re claiming massage through certain NDIS plans or as part of a specific therapy package.
If you have specific muscle pain or tension, book Remedial. If you want full-body stretching and flexibility, book Thai. If you’re recovering from cosmetic surgery or have lymphatic concerns, book Lymphatic Drainage. If you’re an athlete or active person managing training load, book Sports. If you’re not sure, mention your goal at booking and we’ll match the session.
Two options: 60 minutes (standard) and 90 minutes (extended). 60 minutes is sufficient for most focused remedial or recovery work. 90 minutes is recommended for full-body sessions, complex presentations, or when combining modalities (for example, remedial plus lymphatic work).
Yes. Hopevana is primarily a physiotherapy clinic. If your massage therapist identifies a musculoskeletal issue better suited to physiotherapy — such as a disc-related back issue, a joint problem, or post-surgical rehab needs — they can refer you internally to one of our AHPRA-registered physiotherapists without you having to start your care over elsewhere.
Wear comfortable clothing. Hydrate well in the hours before. Eat lightly within an hour of your session. For Thai massage, loose-fitting clothes are ideal (you stay clothed throughout). For remedial, lymphatic, or sports massage, you’ll have privacy to change and your therapist will use appropriate draping during the session.
