Back Pain Physio in Homebush
- Bulk billed with a CDM plan
- WorkCover & CTP direct billed
- No referral needed privately
Back pain interrupts everything — the workday, sleep, the things you do to unwind. When it hits, a long trip across Sydney to find help is the last thing you want.
Our Homebush physio clinic treats patients from Homebush itself and the surrounding suburbs — Strathfield, Lidcombe, Flemington, Concord and Burwood. Short trip, parking on site, and several ways to have the cost covered in full.
What We Treat
Sudden and long-standing pain
Pain that arrived with a lift or a twist, and pain that has built quietly over months. Both respond to physiotherapy, though persistent pain needs a closer look at what keeps causing it.
Nerve pain down the leg
Pain travelling from the lower back into the buttock or leg, sometimes with tingling or numbness. See our sciatica page for how that is assessed and treated.
Disc, posture and stiffness
Disc-related pain, desk and device posture, and stiffness that limits how you bend and turn. Treatment covers both the current episode and what is driving it.
How Treatment Works at Our Homebush Physio Clinic
The first session is mostly assessment. We look at how you move, find which positions provoke your symptoms, and take a history of how the pain behaves across a day. Treatment starts in that same appointment, and you leave with something to do between visits.
From there it is hands-on work to ease stiff joints and overworking muscles, exercises to rebuild the support around your spine, and plain-language explanation of what is going on. Where useful we add remedial massage, dry needling, acupuncture, cupping, fascia therapy (IASTM), shockwave therapy or NeuroKinetic Therapy — but only where it fits your presentation, and we will tell you why.
Ways to Have It Covered
Cost should not be why you wait. Most patients qualify for at least one of these.
| Pathway | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| Medicare CDM | Bulk billed, zero gap, once your GP prepares a care plan — how CDM referrals work |
| WorkCover | Billed direct to your insurer for accepted claims, nothing on the day |
| CTP | Same direct billing after a motor vehicle accident |
| DVA | Approved care for White, Gold and Orange card holders |
| Private health | HICAPS claimed at the counter — you pay the gap only |
| NDIS | Registered for self, plan and agency-managed participants |
Not sure which applies? Call before you book and we will work it out with you.
When to See a Physio in Homebush
You do not need to wait until it is unbearable. Earlier usually means faster.
- It has lasted more than a few weeks, or keeps coming back
- Pain travels down your leg or into your foot
- It is affecting your sleep, your work or your training
- Stiffness is limiting how you move
- It started after an injury or an accident
Some symptoms need a GP or emergency department, not a physio booking. Loss of bladder or bowel control, numbness around the groin or inner thighs, spreading leg weakness, or back pain with fever or unexplained weight loss — get those seen urgently.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I choose a physio in Homebush?
Start with AHPRA registration — that is non-negotiable and quick to verify online. After that, three questions tell you most of what you need: does the first appointment include a proper movement assessment or go straight to treatment; will you leave with exercises to do between visits; and which funding pathways the clinic bills directly, since that decides what you actually pay. A Homebush physio who answers those clearly on the phone will usually be just as clear in the room.
Do I need a referral to see a physio for back pain?
Not as a private patient — you can book directly. A referral only matters for Medicare bulk billing, which needs a Chronic Disease Management plan prepared by your GP. Ask your GP whether you are eligible; if you have a chronic condition being managed over time, you may well be.
What does bulk billed physiotherapy cost?
Nothing out of pocket. With a valid CDM plan we bill Medicare directly, so there is no upfront payment and no claim for you to submit. The plan covers a set number of allied health sessions per calendar year, and we will tell you where you are up to as you go.
Can I use private health for back pain treatment?
Yes, if your extras cover includes physiotherapy. We claim through HICAPS at the counter, so your fund’s rebate comes off before you pay and you cover only the gap. The rebate amount depends on your fund and level of cover, so it is worth checking your extras table before your first visit.
Where is the Homebush clinic and can I park?
The clinic is in Homebush with parking on site, and it is straightforward to reach from Strathfield, Lidcombe, Flemington, Concord and Burwood. If you are further west, we also have a Pendle Hill clinic. Call 0411 057 420 if you would like directions before your first appointment.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on how long you have had the pain and what you need to get back to. Your physiotherapist will give you an honest estimate after the first assessment rather than signing you up to a fixed block. Many people notice a difference early, but lasting change comes from staying consistent with the exercises between visits.
